‘We’re looking for Leadership development strategy and implementation at all three levels across the organisation that will improve communication, accountability, transparency and lead change throughout our organisation.’
This was the opening line of the Children’s Hospital Foundation (CHF) request for tender.
Luminate submitted a tender and was selected ahead of other companies to design and deliver the CHF leadership program, across three levels in the business, which are:
Additionally there was specific criteria that Luminate was to design and deliver.
Review and fine tune our culture to improve engagement, efficiencies and profitability
Develop a high performing team culture through creating a culturally safe organisation that allows staff to thrive, be themselves and create healthy conflict
Review and redefine the values of the Foundation through a ‘whole of team’ approach
Value adding activities to support the CHF mission, values and purpose.
Luminate’s first steps were to have a discovery workshop with program sponsors and relevant leaders to discuss the following concepts.
Through this two-day exploration, Luminate Leadership’s Cherie Canning, in partnership with the CHF Head of People and Culture, Rachael Murphy, created a Leadership Pathway and Program, focussing on enhancing the culture and developing the leadership and employee engagement.
The team completed the following tasks, and agreed on the following structure:
Establish a clear Leadership Competency framework.
Leadership program to be mapped back to the Leadership competency framework, with clear metrics to be used in 360 feedback and employee reviews.
The workshops would include topics such as effective communication, coaching, problem solving skills, difficult conversations, emotional intelligence, conflict, managing change, resilience, and self development.
Culture survey & employee engagement focus area surveys were sent out quarterly, designed to gather feedback on:
1) What is working and what may require changing
2) Participant feedback post workshops was to be collated and sent at the conclusion of each workshop, which would include participant rankings, ratings, as well as free format feedback.
We commenced the Leadership program by establishing and relaunching the organisation's values and behaviours. This included leaders, as well as all staff in consultation and workshops.
Luminate facilitated a two day culture workshop focusing on building cohesion and clarity amongst the senior leadership team. We used frameworks such as Patrick Lencioni’s ‘The Advantage’ and other tools for understanding team dynamics such as HBDI.
Luminate Leadership, in conjunction with CHF, launched the profiling tool HBDI, across the organisation to engage staff, develop self awareness and form cohesive teams.
